Their Gang Up Against President Tinubu Is Déjà Vu Of Their Gang Up Against President Jonathan - Reno Omokri
If you objectively assess the current so-called coalition against President
Tinubu, you will observe that the promoters of this gathering are doing the same
thing they did in 2014 and expecting a different result in 2027.
These same
people gathered to unite against President Jonathan and ended up regretting
their folly under eight years of Buhari. Buhari persecuted some of them, rigged
others out, and even destroyed some of their businesses.
It is one thing for
those in another party to gather to scatter then-President Jonathan.
That was
their job. But when those in his own party gathered to do it, should Nigerians
be surprised that they are repeating their old habits? I worked VERY closely
with President Jonathan.
Nigerians will think I am exaggerating when I say that
man is like all the goodness in politics rolled up and personified in a human
being. The straw that broke their back was that President Jonathan and Buhari
eventually reconciled to the point that President Buhari's kitchen cabinet
preferred President Jonathan as his successor.
The cane they brought to flog an
innocent Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was used to flog them instead. But they have not
learnt from their mistakes. They have now gathered again. This time to unite
against President Tinubu. All of them seated on that podium that day have
benefited from Asiwaju Tinubu in one way or the other.
All of them.
No
exception. None of them really like the other. Remove their shared hatred for
Tinubu, and nothing will hold them together. And now, because President Tinubu
has done what they all said they would, which is remove subsidies, float the
Naira, and devolve power from the states to the local government, they are
capitalising on the resistance to these reforms to gather to scatter a man that
they say no longer matters.
I was also once a critic of President Bola Tinubu.
Today, I am a fan.
Why? In my lifetime, I have only come across three Nigerian
presidents who promised to do something and actually did it within the first
hundred days of being sworn in. The first is President Yar'adua. The second is
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
Last but not least is President Tinubu.
Do these fellows
expect Nigerians to leave a leader who promises and follow serial gang-up
specialists? "They planned, but God also planned.
And God is the best of
planners."-Quran 8:30. Reno Omokri Gospeller. Deep Thinker.
